Listening and speaking skills are fostered through oral drills and a variety of methods, including the use of audiotapes. Experience in writing is provided at first through controlled exercises based on structural patterns within the language, some translation into the foreign language, and ultimately, through free composition as well as analytical writing at advanced levels.
